Basildon started the game the much stronger team and already had the upper hand by
getting a goal in the 2nd minute, which was scored by Bartlett-Antwi whilst he was one on
one with the keeper and managed to just get past him and shoot into the inner corner of the
net. Mildenhall had a few chances from throw-ins and corners however couldn’t make the
most of these. Basildon got a penalty in the 40th minute from one of their players going
down in the box, Bartlett-Antwi took the penalty and scored it. This took the score to 2-0 going in at half time.
Both teams started the second half equal and Mildehall were a lot better than in the first half
however this didn’t compare to Basildon. Basildon got a 3rd goal in the 58th minute, scored
by Esuka from inside the box despite Mildenhall’s defence all being in the box he still
managed to get the shot in. Mildenhall were determined to get a goal and made several
crosses into the box, but there was no one to get onto the end of them and for the majority of
them the keeper ended up catching the ball. Basildon were still trying to get a few more
goals and Mildenhall would get the ball from them and go on the counter attack, but for the
majority of these the player with the ball would be upfield by themselves with no one to pass
to and the ball would go back to the opposition. After lots of attempts to score Mildenhall
managed to get a goal in the 82nd minute from Capel, which was from a free kick into the
box that got headed around by a few players before landing at the feet of Capel and being
shot into the corner of the goal.
Throughout the game there were a lot of calls for handball from both teams but the majority
of these got dismissed from the referees.
